# Connect an AI client

The **MCP server** lets external AI tools work on your 4HSE data without opening the web interface. Connecting means giving the client a URL and authenticating.

## The URL

[Section titled “The URL”](#the-url)

The base URL is `https://mcp.4hse.com/4hse`

Authentication goes through 4HSE **Single Sign On**, the same system as the other 4HSE applications: whoever has access to 4HSE has access to the MCP server, **with the same permissions**.

## Claude

[Section titled “Claude”](#claude)

1. Go to [claude.ai](https://claude.ai).
2. Open the account settings.
3. Find the **Connected apps** or **Integrations** section.
4. Select **Add MCP server**.
5. Enter the URL and your 4HSE credentials.

## ChatGPT

[Section titled “ChatGPT”](#chatgpt)

1. Go to [chat.openai.com](https://chat.openai.com).
2. Open the settings.
3. Go to **Integrations** or **Connected services**.
4. Select **Add custom integration**.
5. Enter the URL and complete the authentication through 4HSE SSO.

## Other clients

[Section titled “Other clients”](#other-clients)

For agentic systems, enterprise automation platforms and other MCP-compatible clients, the procedure depends on the system: follow its own instructions for adding an MCP integration, then provide the 4HSE URL and authenticate through SSO.

Once connected, see [MCP operations](/ai/mcp-operations) for what you can ask.
