# How to Use Widgets

In the [Widget Editor](/guides/widget/widget-designer-intro) article, we covered how to create and edit widgets. Now let’s see how we can use them.

A widget is saved as a file in the 4HSE file system and has the `.hf` extension. To _run_ or use a widget, simply double-click on the file.

Running the widget opens it in a new window.

In this window, you can fill out the widget form, save the filled form, or print it.

A widget with the `.hf` extension works like a template that you can run as many times as needed. Each time you launch an `.hf` file—even the same one—it’s like opening a new instance of the widget.

The most common use case is creating a widget-form that can be filled out whenever needed. Each time you run a widget and save it, a new file is created—this file is the result of your filled-out widget, and it has the `.hc` extension.

You can reopen and edit your `.hc` file, or create a new one by launching the original `.hf` file.
