# Event types

## The categories

[Section titled “The categories”](#the-categories)

The category is chosen in the **Category** field of the details. It is optional and does not change the fields of the form: every category is recorded in the same way.

Category

What it records

Example

**Accidents**

an event that harmed a worker

a fall from a ladder causing an injury

**Accidents and near misses**

an event that caused material damage or stopped work, or that could have caused harm and did not

a forklift hitting a rack; a load falling into an empty area

**Non compliance**

a departure from a procedure, a standard or a requirement

a machine in use without its guard

**Report - Malfunction**

irregular operation

an alarm going off for no reason

**Report - Failure**

a breakdown

a machine that has stopped

**Request - Inspection**

a request for a check

an inspection of scaffolding

**Request - Maintenance**

a request for maintenance

the service of a fire extinguisher

**Request - Replacement**

a request to replace something

a worn PPE item

**Request - Intervention**

a request for a general intervention

the repair of a fire door

## The statuses

[Section titled “The statuses”](#the-statuses)

Status

Meaning

**New**

the event has been recorded and not yet taken on

**Open**

the event is being handled

**Closed**

the event is concluded; the **Closing date** is required

The status is changed by hand: it does not depend on the linked corrective actions. See [Close an event](/incidents/close-an-event).

## The roles of the people who manage the event

[Section titled “The roles of the people who manage the event”](#the-roles-of-the-people-who-manage-the-event)

They are assigned in the event’s details, as on prevention actions.

Role

Who it is

**Manager**

the person responsible for handling the event

**Assignee**

the person tasked with following it up

**Watcher**

someone who needs to be kept informed

**Recipient**

the person the event concerns

If none is assigned, the default roles for events set in the project configuration apply. When the event is recorded, everyone with a role receives a notification; at every change, the person who created it does.

## The people involved

[Section titled “The people involved”](#the-people-involved)

The people involved are not the same as the roles: they are the workers of the office affected by the event, for example the injured person. For each one you record:

Data

What it holds

**Description**

how the person was involved

**Days sickness**

the days of sickness

The event’s details show the number of people involved (**Num. involved person**) and the sum of their days (**Tot. Days Sickness**).
