# Permit statuses

Every certificate acting as a permit has a status describing where it is in its life cycle. It is visible in the certificate detail, in the scheduler, and on the public verification page.

Status

Meaning

**Draft**

The permit is being prepared: it is not authorised yet and grants no right to operate.

**Valid**

The permit is authorised and effective within its validity dates.

**Expired**

The end date or time has passed and the permit must be renewed. Derived automatically from the dates.

**Revoked**

The permit was withdrawn before its natural expiry, for example because conditions on site changed.

**Rejected**

The permit was not approved.

## In the scheduler

[Section titled “In the scheduler”](#in-the-scheduler)

In the [scheduler](/scheduler-and-notifications/) the **Revoked** and **Rejected** statuses appear with a red badge, and a valid permit becomes **expiring** as it approaches the end of its validity.

The two views do not show the same set: **Draft** does not appear among the scheduler statuses, while **New** and **Expiring**, which the scheduler computes, do not belong to the permit life cycle. See [Statuses](/scheduler-and-notifications/statuses) for the general picture.
