# Time-bound validity

A permit is effective between the **Date release** and the **Date expire**. When you issue the certificate, the **Time precision** checkbox decides how precise those dates are.

Expiry is then applied automatically by 4HSE: nothing has to be closed by hand, and the [public verification page](/permit-to-work/public-verification) reflects the change on the next scan.
