# Set default roles for new actions

If the same people are responsible for whole areas of prevention, you can assign the roles once instead of repeating them on every action.

1.  In the project menu, go to **Administration > Configuration > Default roles**.

![Default roles in the project menu](/_astro/default-roles-1.BbxZqpxJ_Z2k9fjQ.webp) 2. Find the section for the action type you want to configure. 3. Click the **+** button next to the role to assign — _Manager_, _Observer_ or _Assignee_. 4. Choose between:

-   people registered in the project;
-   project users, by email.

5.  Save.

Roles can be defined separately for the two levels — the action and its session — in every prevention area. The correspondence between the two levels and the name each area uses is in [Terminology by action type](/prevention-and-protection/terminology-by-action-type).

## Override on a single action

1.  Select the specific action or session.
2.  Open the **Details** panel.
3.  Change the _Manager_, _Observer_ or _Assignee_ fields.
