# Link an external certificate to a company action

A worker may hold certificates issued by third parties, named differently from the company action but covering the same content — or a single company session may produce more than one certificate. Linking them makes their expiry visible alongside everything else.

Before you start, make sure that:

-   the reference action exists in the office where the worker is employed;
- the worker is a recipient of it.

If not, create the action and add the worker first.

1. Go to the **People** menu, select the worker and open their card.
2. Open the **Certificates** menu and click **New**.
3. Select the type of action the certificate refers to, enter the details of the document and save.
4. Select the certificate you have just created.
5. In the details below, open the **Actions** tab and click **New**.
6. Select the company action the certificate should count towards, and save.

The **expiry date** is inherited automatically from the certificate and shown in the scheduler.

## Change the inherited expiry

[Section titled “Change the inherited expiry”](#change-the-inherited-expiry)

1. Double-click the row in the **Actions** tab.
2. Clear the **Inherit expiry date from certificate** flag.
3. Enter the new date and save.
