# Schedule a session

A session is one execution of the action on a date. Its name depends on the type — edition, visit, order, delivery, report: see [Terminology by action type](/prevention-and-protection/terminology-by-action-type).

1. Open the session level of the menu and click **New**.
2. Click **Select** and choose the action to execute. Only actions existing in this office are listed; if yours is missing, [create it](/prevention-and-protection/create-an-action) first.
3. Check the **validity** inherited from the action.
4. Enter the details of the execution: **date**, and where applicable the type of session, the person in charge and the location.
5. The roles of **Manager**, **Assignee** and **Observer** are inherited from the action. Change them here if this session is handled by someone else.
6. Click **Save**.

Scheduling a session does not enrol anyone: that is the next step, [Enrol recipients in a session](/prevention-and-protection/enrol-recipients).
