# Create a work phase

A work phase describes in detail a task workers carry out. It is the unit the assessment is built on — see [Risk assessment](/risk-assessment/).

1.  Open the office.
2.  Go to the **Work phases** menu.
3.  Click **New**.
4.  Fill in the required data.
5.  Save.

The phase appears in the list, ready to be filled with what it involves: [link the sources, the hazards and the risks](/risk-assessment/hazards-and-risks).
