Risk Assessment
The Risk Assessment section, available in the project configuration, allows you to select the risk aggregator that will be used as the basis for the project’s risk analysis.
This configuration can be accessed from the project menu by navigating to:
Administration > Configuration > Risk Assessment

Choosing the risk aggregator
Section titled “Choosing the risk aggregator”The risk aggregator defines which structure is used to identify hazards, assess risks, and organize safety-related information.
In 4HSE, the following risk aggregators are available:
Work phase
Section titled “Work phase”Allows risks to be assessed based on specific operational activities carried out within the organization. This is the most common approach and is recommended when risk assessment is structured around actual work activities.
The assessment focuses on risks associated with a specific job role. This option is suitable for organizations with clearly defined and stable roles.
Homogeneous group
Section titled “Homogeneous group”Allows workers exposed to similar risks to be grouped together, focusing the assessment on the group as a whole. This is useful when multiple workers share the same exposures regardless of individual activities or roles.
When to choose one aggregator over another
Section titled “When to choose one aggregator over another”The choice of aggregator depends on how the organization structures its safety management system:
- choose Work phase if risk assessment is centered on operational activities and processes;
- choose Job if risks are mainly associated with professional roles;
- choose Homogeneous group if the assessment is based on groups of workers with similar exposures.
There is no universally “correct” choice: the key point is that the selected aggregator reflects the organizational model and the adopted safety management approach.
Practical consequences of the choice
Section titled “Practical consequences of the choice”Once the risk aggregator has been selected and saved, the corresponding aggregator detail view is extended with dedicated sections for risk management.
Specifically, the structure is expanded to allow you to:
- identify hazards and risks;
- define prevention and protection actions;
- manage the information required for risk assessment.
