How to Use Widgets

In the Widget Editor article, we covered how to create and edit widgets. Now let’s see how we can use them.

A widget is saved as a file in the 4HSE file system and has the .hf extension. To run or use a widget, simply double-click on the file.

Running the widget opens it in a new window.

In this window, you can fill out the widget form, save the filled form, or print it.

A widget with the .hf extension works like a template that you can run as many times as needed. Each time you launch an .hf file—even the same one—it’s like opening a new instance of the widget.

The most common use case is creating a widget-form that can be filled out whenever needed. Each time you run a widget and save it, a new file is created—this file is the result of your filled-out widget, and it has the .hc extension.

You can reopen and edit your .hc file, or create a new one by launching the original .hf file.
