Risk aggregators
The risk aggregator defines the structure used to identify hazards, assess risks and organise safety information. It is chosen per project, and it decides what the assessment revolves around.
The three options
Section titled “The three options”| Aggregator | The assessment focuses on | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Work phase | the operational activities actually carried out | organisations that reason in terms of processes and activities. The most common choice. |
| Job | the risks of a professional role | organisations with clearly defined, stable roles |
| Homogeneous group | a group of workers exposed to similar risks | when several workers share the same exposures regardless of their individual activity or role |
How to choose
Section titled “How to choose”The choice depends on how the organisation structures its safety management:
- Work phase, if the assessment is centred on activities and processes;
- Job, if risks are mainly tied to professional roles;
- Homogeneous group, if the assessment is based on groups with similar exposures.
There is no universally correct answer. What matters is that the aggregator chosen reflects the organisational model and the safety management approach actually adopted — a structure that contradicts how people really work produces an assessment nobody recognises.
What changes once you have chosen
Section titled “What changes once you have chosen”The detail view of the chosen aggregator is extended with the sections for risk management: identifying hazards and risks, defining prevention and protection measures, and managing the information the assessment needs.

How to set it
Section titled “How to set it”The aggregator is a project-level setting.
- Open the project menu.
- Go to Administration > Configuration > Risk assessment.
- Select the aggregator: Work phase, Job or Homogeneous group.
- Save.

From then on, the detail view of the chosen aggregator carries the risk management sections, and that is where the assessment is carried out.
